Energy Management Services

Energy savings is an area in which the return on investment for consulting services can be especially high. If your organization annually spends at least $1 million on bills from all utility providers combined, Titus can provide you with savings far in excess of the cost for our services. We routinely see returns that average 3:1, with some first-year savings of 10:1 and even higher! Our average first year clients see a return of about 5:1.

Your energy-related savings will depend on the regulatory environment in the states where your facilities are located, your load factor, number of sites and many additional factors. Typically, clients in their first year of an energy cost-saving process realize the highest return as there are diminishing returns year-over-year once savings processes are implemented.

In addition to customized consulting which is tailored specifically to your organization’s particular needs, Titus provides the following services:

Energy Price Reduction Services
  • Competitive electricity procurement in deregulated states (IL, OH, MI, TX, AZ, NY, VA, MD, DC, DE, PA, NJ, CT, RI, MA, NH, ME) and countries (EU, Australia, Canada and others)

Environmental Footprint Reduction Services
With our network of highly-qualified engineering and legal partners, Titus provides Project Management oversight to implement integrated solutions to your complex energy and environmental needs including:
  • Enterprise sustainability planning and implementation support
  • Client environmental stewardship message development for key stakeholders and customers
  • Environmental compliance planning and implementation

  • Regulatory and legislative relations

  • Communication and Transparency are part of Titus’ service distinction across all our practice areas. Specifically, we provide weekly activity reports that detail metrics on bills analyzed, opportunities found, utilities contacted for refunds or bill corrections, energy procurement results, cost savings realized and more. We host weekly conference calls and monthly or quarterly on-site meetings with key client personnel to ensure a common understanding of our process and progress. During these calls and meetings, we discuss barriers and opportunities as well as report on prior period activities and those planned for the coming week, especially engagement milestones. Titus believes that open communication and transparency is the key to successful engagements.
  • No Conflicts of Interest: Titus provides competitive energy procurement services, but we do not take title to, nor take any consideration for or from, any energy supply or energy supplier. This is unlike other energy service providers who often have “special relationships” with individual power marketers and receive a commission or other consideration to recommend that power marketer as a client energy supplier. Titus is also not a technology vendor; we provide independent, objective third-party evaluations of technology purchases without any commission or consideration from vendors.
  • A Different Pricing Structure: Titus does not promote shared savings or performance-based pricing approaches like those of other providers of energy management services. We believe the best approach for our clients is a fee-for-service structure that includes coaching your procurement, facilities and operations staff to go after all types of energy efficiency, environmental impact and utility cost savings opportunities, not only the easiest ones to achieve. We also maximize the use of your internal staff whenever possible.

Audit work for industry specific sales tax exemptions on a telecommunications company’s utility bills produced $1.1 million of possible refunds after appeal. This work produced a 70:1 return on investment for our client. Titus identified the refund opportunities through our extensive knowledge of the tax codes, supported by our superior research capabilities, of the sales tax codes within the states in which our client operated.

Detailed electricity rate analysis comparing current rates against alternative rate schedules produced $195,000 of annual energy spend savings for one large, national client. These savings were in regulated states currently serviced by investor-owned utilities and member-owned cooperatives. This work produced a 7:1 return on investment.

Competitive power procurement provided for two clients in deregulated states, produced a first year savings of approximately $70,000. This work returned a 3:1 return on investment.
